English as a Second Language (ESL)

English as a Second Language Program (ESL) is designed to help adults looking to learn English as their second, third, or fourth language. ESL offers beginning, basic, intermediate, and advanced classes in English Grammar, Reading, Conversation, Citizenship and American History. English classes are for students 19 years of age or older. New students are accepted on any class day. There is no cost for the classes but students must purchase their own textbooks. Free child care is provided during class time for children up to age 5.

Classes meet on Monday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.

Grammar, Reading, Writing, Conversation, Vocabulary

  • August 19: Fall Classes Begin

  • September 2: Labor Day

  • September 16: Public School-Teachers Workday

  • October 14: Public School-Teachers Workday

  • November 11: Veteran’s Day

  • November 25 & 29: Thanksgiving Break

  • December 13: End of term Party at 10:00 a.m. | Bring food to share from your country.

  • January 6: Fall Classes Begin

  • January 20: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

  • February 3: Virtual Day for Public School

  • March 3 & 7: Mardi Gras Break

  • March 17: Teacher’s Work Day

  • April 21-25: Spring Break

  • May 16: Farewell Lunch at 10:00 a.m. | Bring food from your country.
