MISSIONS
We seek to empower ministry locally, nationally, and internationally through mission partnerships. Through those partnerships we provide opportunities to the members of Christ United to engage in changing the world by spending their time in service with those partner organizations. We encourage everyone to get involved in one or more of the following ways:
Pray for the missions we sponsor and our mission teams
Give to Christ United Missions Fund to support missions here and around the world
Serve on one of our teams or by contacting one of our supported agencies
Change the World Service Events
Volunteer alongside others in service with local ministry opportunities. We emphasize projects that are family-friendly and involve a wide variety of skills and abilities so that everyone can participate. If you have Christ United apparel, please wear it. Victory Health Partners
Thursday, January 22 | 8:30 a.m. - Noon | Victory Health Partners (3750 Professional Parkway)
We will help to prepare a mailing of annual giving statements to their donors. Matching the statements to envelopes and preparing them to be mailed is a fairly simple (and seated) job as we gather around a conference room table to help lessen the workload of this ministry partner’s staff.
Open Doors Thrift Store
Saturday, January 31 | 8:30 a.m. - Noon | Open Doors Thrift Store (4125 Government Blvd)
We will help to sort donated items and get their displays stocked so that they can raise funds for Methodist ministries in our area like Dumas Wesley Community Center, Sybil Smith homeless shelter, Mobile Inner City Mission, and USA Wesley Foundation. Enter through the Donation door at the right rear of the building.
Costa Rica Mission Trip
Sunday | January 25 | 3:30 pm. - 4:30 p.m. | Hospitality Room
Hands of Joy leaders have been involving Alabama volunteers in construction and dental missions to the Central American nation of Costa Rica for over 45 years. A number of Christ United members are regular partners in these mission trips and we wish to encourage you to join us. This year's trip, scheduled for June 9 – 16, will focus on church repair and cleanup projects for partners in the area. Learn how you can be involved and what is required to participate as we seek to serve Christ and "change the world" beyond the walls of our own church and community.
